Shad E. Christman
Shad started as a lawyer with HPS Law Firm in August of 2019. He practices in all areas of litigation in South Dakota state court.
Shad grew up on a farm and cattle ranch in rural Adams County, North Dakota, just a few miles north of his hometown of Lemmon, South Dakota. He attended South Dakota State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in both Political Science and Speech Communication in 2012. After graduating from SDSU, Shad served as a summer intern in Washington, D.C., then a full-time staff assistant in Sioux Falls for United States Senator Tim Johnson.
Shad began law school at the University of South Dakota School of Law in the fall of 2014. During law school, he was selected as the Editor-in-Chief of Volume 62 of the South Dakota Law Review. He was also published in the law review and was a member of the trial team. He received his J.D. in 2017.
Following law school, Shad had the unique experience of serving as a clerk for three different Justices of the South Dakota Supreme Court over the course of two years: Justice Glen A. Severson, Justice Steven R. Jensen, and Chief Justice David Gilbertson.
In his free time, Shad enjoys travelling, camping, participating in community theatre, playing the guitar and singing, and spending time with his Bernese Mountain Dog, Guthrie. Shad and his wife Rebecca reside in Sioux Falls.
